35 Days To Go!!

Hi Everybody!!

We are getting close to to the 30 day marker and everything is coming together perfectly, with the exception of the snow that keeps falling in my parents backyard. (they got another 3 inches last night) I am sure it will thaw before the wedding at least that is what I keep telling myself.

We wanted to let you all know that Dave's parents, Anne & Jim are hosting a "Come and Meet the Families" on the Friday night before the wedding from 7-9:30 at the Log Jam Restaurant. The Log Jam is very close to all the hotels, the address is Routes 9 & 149 Lake George, NY. The web address is http://www.logjamrestaurant.com/. There will be an open bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres served. Anyone who is interested in stopping by Friday night is more than welcome. Dave and I will definately be there between 7-9:30! So stop by meet me, or Dave and or meet our families and friends. Have a drink with Smiths and the Biggins!

Dave and I are excited about our Honeymoon, we will be leaving the Monday after the wedding for 9 days in Rome! We chose Rome as neither of us has been before and Rome was a "Top Place to Visit" for both of us. We can't wait to eat, drink, relax and soak up the the Italian shoes, I mean sites.

See everyone very soon!!!

Love - Dawn & Dave

We are almost there!

Hello Everyone, we hope you are all doing well.

Congratulations to Tim and Sarah Biggins on their new baby girl. Margaret Jane, they call her Greta. She is absolutely gorgeous! Will try to download some of the pictures we received and attach them to the blog.

AND we also want to Congratulate Jen & Garrett Rice (friends from California) on the arrival of their new baby Boy, Jackson Skinner!!! He is too cute for words and will definately drive the girls crazy.

Well we are just under the 60 day marker! Time has flown by and we know the next 60 days will go by even quicker. We are excited to see all of you at the wedding.

If you haven't made your hotel reservations, click on the "2007" link on the left hand side of this page, the blog entries from 2007 will appear the first one is the one from late in December, and then scroll down until you see "Places to stay for the Big Day".

We moved into our new house in January and are pretty much settled in. We are going to wait until we get back from our honeymoon before we even think about painting any walls. Our townhouse has all white walls, a totally blank slate. We love it and couldn't be happier in our new neighborhood. Except for how Dave left me all alone while he did his duty to this country and as luck would have it, the washing machine over filled an leaked into our neighbors and then proceeded to run out of our lights on the floor below. We have been without power on that floor since Saturday (and just so you know, I am writing on Wednesday) the electrician should be here tomorrow, to tell us if we can turn things back on. Dave came home to an OH so
UNHAPPY bride to be. ; - )))))) But it has been fun, trying to cook and read mail by flashlight!!!

[Dave Comment: Meh. I've been through worse, but this is not something to say in the middle of a crisis in Dawn-Land.]

Dave is a very very smart man, for those of you who didn't know. ; - )))

We will be posting some information in the next week or two with regard to where we will be Friday night before the wedding for anyone who wants to meet up with our families. Stay tuned!!!

Love to all,
Dawn & Dave

Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year

The last few months were busy for us as I am sure they were for everyone. We had my sister's wedding the first weekend in November on Long Island NY. JJ & Daniel's wedding in Napa two weeks later, my parents visited for Thanksgiving and then phew it was Christmas !! We were very lucky this year and we were able to spend time with each of our families. We visited my parents in Fort Ann New York, and my sister, Kristen and her husband, Christopher were there too! Yes, my poor (literally) parents two weddings 6 months apart.

We then spent Christmas Day with the Biggins.... Anne, Jim, Dan, Anne, Katie, James, Tim, Sarah and the soon to be arriving newest Biggins, (Tim & Sarah are having a baby and are due in early February.) For those of you who don't know Dave's Family Anne & Jim are the parental units, Dan & Tim are the brothers! Dan is married to Anne, Katie and James are their children and Tim is married to Sarah! Phew!!!!

Dave and I then closed on our new home on the 26th of December. We bought an end unit townhouse in the Cameron Station community in Alexandria. There are a few pictures below, we have 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. We move out of our current place on the 12th of January. We are so excited about our new house, we fell in love with the windows, although we have not figured out who is responsible for cleaning them!!
We are alittle more than 4 months away from the wedding. We can't wait to see you all!! Hotel information is down a bit on this page. If you have any questions please leave a comment on the blog.

Well we just past the 6 month marker (has anyone seen Dave???) and we can't wait to see everyone. We have pretty much finished the planning, we have some odds and ends to get done but we were lucky and everything came together nicely. Now we just have to cross our fingers that everything goes according to our plans. ; - )))) (we know... that will never happen)

Places to Stay for the Big Day!!!

Hello Everyone,

We are so happy that so many of you find the blog a good way to communicate our plans.

While we are still 8 months away from the wedding we wanted to share with all of you the hotels that we have "banked" rooms with.

All of the below hotels offer buffet breakfast included in the room rates, and all have indoor pools. We have reserved rooms at all the hotels, all you need to do is call the hotel and indicate that you are looking to reserve a room for the SMITH-BIGGINS wedding. All of the rooms are considered suites, and therefore have microwaves and mini fridges in them. Please keep in mind that this is off season for the Lake George area and thus there won't be a ton of things to do. The hotels are all within 15 miles of where the wedding will be held, however we are looking to provide transportation for our guests from the hotels to my parent's house. This piece is still being worked on so more details to follow. For those of you who love to shop there is a section of outlet shopping very very close which is called "The Miracle Mile".

Here are the hotels with their website addresses and telephone numbers. Please email us or post a comment if you have any questions. Please remember you must call the hotels to get the rates we post below. Booking on line will not get the same rates. PLEASE also note that the rooms are held for our wedding until 45 days prior to May 3rd at that time the rooms are released for regular sale (we can still get the wedding rates the hotels just don't guarantee rooms will be available)

1. Sleep Inn Suites

http://www.sleepinnlakegeorge.com/

PRICE $77.00 per night

2. Hampton Inn Suites

http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=LKGNYHX
(518)668-4100
PRICE $89.00 per night (this hotel is the only one with a bar inside the hotel for those of you who may want to enjoy a cocktail)

3. Wingate Suites

http://www.wingateinnlakegeorge.com/
(518)668-4884
PRICE $79.00 per night

4. Comfort Inn Suites

http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-US/html/HotelInfo?hotel=NY284&promo=smokefree
(518) 761-0001
PRICE $99.00 per night

I personally visited each of the above hotels and they are all very nice. I have no doubt that you will be very happy no matter which one you choose.

Lastly, the closest airport is Albany Airport, the airport is about 45 minutes away from the hotels. Depending on where you are coming from Southwest is a good option, along with many other airlines.

As always please post any comments/questions/concerns or feel free to email us.

SAVE THE DATE

Hello and Welcome to Dawn & Dave's Wedding Blog

On this posting we thought we would share how we met, how we got engaged, and what the plans are for the wedding so far.

We met through Eharmony.com. Yes the same Eharmony you see on the commercials with the couples gushing over each other. We aren't quite that bad. I keep asking Dave if I can send our story in and he forbids me to even think about it!!! : - )))

We started dating in January and went to Lisa's (a friend of Dave's who he served in Afghanistan with) wedding in May in Costa Rica. I am not sure if it was the humidity or that love was in the air but we started talking about getting married and pretty much realized on the trip that we found what each of us had been looking for.

Forward to July 6th, Dave and I had tickets to see Phantom of the Opera at the Kennedy Center and decided to make it a special night and stay at the Watergate Hotel. What a beautiful hotel! We had dinner and then saw the play, which we both loved. When the play was over we walked over to the fountains in front of the Kennedy Center where Dave got on one knee and proposed. What did I say first... "Oh my god, right here, right Now!" and then of course a YES! Then called the parents and shared the excitement with them.

Now we are planning the Wedding and the Honeymoon. The wedding will be at my parents house in Fort Ann, New York. It will be Saturday May 3, 2008 at 1 pm. It will be an outdoor ceremony with the reception immediately following. The reception will be in a tent (which will double as the ceremony location in the event of rain) So please put us on your calendars! We can't wait to see all of you!!

I will be posting hotel information shortly. We have reserved banks of rooms at three hotels. Each hotel has an indoor pool and breakfast is included in the room rate.

Please let us know via the comment section on the posting if you have any questions, as I am sure others will have the same questions.

We look forward to seeing you all in May. Mark this site as a favorite and come back and visit in about 2 weeks when we will have the hotel information available.

Love

Dawn & Dave
